Those were stock Regal Tip Blasticks that I've owned now for almost 20 years! I didn't have black gaf tape, that's why you see the white, but I use the tape to keep the ends from splaying out (they do that as they get older and more abused).

I think you can still get them? I don't know, when the Hot Rods came out, people stopped talking about the Blasticks....

I think you are right, pretty sure I have seen a pair down at Guitar Center. I was curious because they sound very nice in your recording (better than others I have used live) so I was thinking I might take a look at some.

I am guessing they have wooden handles and not plastic if they are 20 yrs old.

That particular brush effect reminds me of Jeff Porcaro's half time triplet shuffle in the song Rosanna by Toto. Good stuff!

Glad you like them. If GC has 'em, I should probably get another pair. The reason I liked them is that they're softer than the Hot Rods, and probably can play more "legato". But they're entirely made out of plastic, no wood anywhere, most likely helps with the softness.

I saw a Dave Weckl video where he started his solo with the hot rods, and although softer, it might as well have been sticks, the sound was a little more "stick" then "brush", but that guy could play anything and it'd sound great.
