Introducing myself-- Hello all--
Brand new to this forum, so here's a little about me--
I've been drumming since age 13-- early influences were the Kinks, Beatles, the Who, early Fleetwood Mac, many others. Played the school kit in the band room for awhile, then was loaned an old orange sparkle beater kit by my band teacher (thanks Mr. Herrick). Bought my Tama Royalstar kit used at 16-- still have it and play it, still in great shape.
Drummed in various bands all through high school and college, garage cover bands mostly, gigging at parties, taverns, roller rinks, etc.-- anywhere that would have us. Lots of fun, but discouraging at times as we all know. Had so many bands implode just as we were getting good or on a roll. Gave it up for a few years when I got married and had kids, established a career, etc., but always kept the drums and woodshedded anytime I could. Church worship music provided an outlet and avenue for playing during those years as well. In the last 5 years I've gotten back out there, gigging with a variety of bands playing classic country, rock, pop, and blues. Most currently, I auditioned for a classic rock band last night, with the aim to gig once or twice a month, and got the gig today. Very pleased with that.
I try to be a solid, musical player with good feel. I get so much joy out of music and playing with good musicians. Hopefully I can learn some things being on this forum as well. Thanks-- |
