I am Seth

My name is Seth and I live in (NOLA) New Orleans, Louisiana, USA.

I currently play with a few groups: a wedding band, a biker bar band, and a gospel worship team. I started pursuing a professional drum career about a year ago and haven't looked back since. It's been one of the most fulfilling times of my life and it keeps getting better and better.

I am in the midst of deciding whether or not to join the local chapter of the American Federation of Musicians (Local 174-496). If any of you have advice feel free to PM me.

I play a Pearl Session Series 3 - 8 pieces depending on my mood and genre.
Usually 8" and 10" toms up top, a 13" and/or 14" on the right and once in a while I'll lug out the 16" floor tom and place it next to the hihat. The 12" tom has become a parts supplier to the other drums.

Mapex Maple snare 12X7
or
Pearl 13X6 Brass snare

Sabian AAX Xplosion crashes, AAX China, AA Hats, AAX Splashes, 22" Ping

Trick Dominator pedals (2).

HAPPY MARDI GRAS!!!

SETH

Hey man.

Sounds like you have a lot going for you, very nice.
Even though the variety of bands you play in is a hilarious combination, I must say (:
Don't mean it in a bad way.

Oooh, you're one of those Sabian guys eh? Nice.
And sounds like a general nice set-up.

Re: I am Seth

Thanks Shelbs. When I bought this drumset used 14 or 15 years ago it came with an assortment of Sabian cymbals. As I've replaced cymbals along the way I've always been able to find "my sound" in a Sabian that was on sale, so I've stuck with them. I will try another (not so popular) brand when I build another drumset and need a set of cymbals. I'm not a brand whore.

Buddy, I guess it is a funny concept; a Biker Bar Band in these neck of the woods plays generally to a crowd of middle aged guys and gals of mixed backgrounds that share motorbikes and Rock and Roll in common. Southern Rock and Blues tend to be the focus. Sometimes it's just a regular night at the bar. A lot of times it's to raise money for a charity or the likes. If you're picturing the Hell's Angels then you're way off base.

Andy B, I employ a "check your ego at the door" policy. If everyone plays with the attitude that they are here to compliment the other musicians then it doesn't sound like everyone is soloing simultaneously. The mature musicians appreciate the policy. Newbs either adapt quickly or don't come back.

Happy Lundi Gras!
