Welcome to DSC Jenny.

Seems like you're ready for an intermediate kit. First we need to know what genre of music you're into and are you ready for a continium in drumming.

Re: Help on buying new drum kit

In my oppinion I would look into a Pearl Kit.

Seems to have that sound your looking for. And then again it's no for certain about the Jazz sound, it's that drumming sound that may be a result of a jazz kit.

One great example was Micth Mitchell that was a great jazz drummer and fit into the whole experience sound of rock.

Good luck on your quest.

Try doing research on different companies that offer kits that fit your budget. Drummers nowadays has the advantage because of the wide selections we have when it comes to kit selections. Then visit your local drum shop to see the kits in person and how it sounds. Good Luck brother!!
