Newcomer to site at Boomer age Hello I am new to this site. I am in the Dallas TX Area, originally from the 1970s Austin music scene. Playing Rock, Gospel, soul, true tejano, jazz, fusion, latin Jazz, country, blues and even disco hehe! I have recorded at least 18 LPs mainly in the Tejano Scene. I started with a 1963 yamaha 3 piece kit jammin on zappas old stuff in my room as a teen. i currently own a 1974 white 5 pc North kit, the 63 yamaha kit, and a newer dream Yamaha Maple custom kit. I use a Jazz type close to me set up, a drum rack with 9 cym mainly As & Ks Ziljian and Sabian and Paiste a 13" hihat setup, I set a set of LP Congas, bongos on my left side, with Cowbells and toys, and djembe and Timbales on right side. I also play hand drums so playing the latin african styles while doing fusion styles are important to me. I love to experience new things as time, family and life changes for me. I am new to this site so forgive me if I start or vere like transgress as I blog. I toured with little Joe y La familia, and even been on Stage with Willie Nelson on Ausin City Limits back in 1994 for a Legends concert. I thank all for the opportunity to be able to write to fellow drummers. I've worked at Oracle for 15 years in software data management and on Airplanes at KC Aviation where I worked on elete Jet setups, and at Dixico where I did research and development in the snack food packaging industry, I am now about to venture in Insurance to babt boomers as the need is ever more increasing. So the sciences with music are part my spirits drive. I serve in the Kingdom of God by serving people and spreading the good news to a hurting world. I have played in Churches of all types Synagogue styles to soulful evangelical hopping churchs. I like middle, latin & african and eastern styles with a soul bottom. 2Bs seem to be the best hand stick fit. I plan on selling my 63 and north kit this year by Christmas God willing I am in need of space.
I will try to post more about my kits as I get started. |
