Talking heya

Hi all, I just got my drums around christmas. My parents say I'm a natural, but I always am learning new things and applying new techniques to my drumming. I play a Ludwig Accent Combo 5-piece with Planet Z crash-ride/hi-hat and a Zildjian zbt 16" medium crash. I'm looking towards buying one more crash, so until then my crash ride will be used as a crash and ride. My next one will probably be a zbt 18", and I already have about thirty bucks. But, my next purchase will definetely be new heads, my current ones sound way to dull. But they have held up much better than I thought they would.
There's tons more info in my profile.
Anyway, I'm glad I found this forum. Looks pretty nice.

Hi Thomas, welcome to a great drumming community. Dive in to the discussion and don't be afraid to start a bunch of crazy new topics, we can all learn from each other here.

Are you still using the heads that came with the kit? Which ones are you planning on getting next?

Good to have you on board.

Thomas,

Welcome to the forum. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.
Are you in a band? What kind of music do you play?

Awesome, welcome to the forums! It's good that your parents think you're a natural otherwise, they would probaly go crazy having to listen to you practice all the time in the house.

Hey man, Hows it going. I checked your profile. Much cred, you know Dale Crover and you're ten years younger than me! Honeybucket is one of the best songs ever.

if you're interested in building your chops, technique etc. and your conscience/tastes allow you to, you might check out/give a listen to a band called/named TOOL. Their drummer's name is Danny Carey and He is incredible. It will build your feet too. I'm unsure as to whether or not you have stepped into the realm of double, but if you have I would recommend TOOL further still.
Have fun, and please don't ever stop!

Thanks for the welcome everyone! Yes I still have the heads that came with the kit. I'm going ton probably get Remo Pinstripes next, I've read a few good reviews about them.
To answer more questions, yes I'm in a sort of band with my brother (guitar). He's only 12, but he plays solos well, and most of our stuff can be mushed together and called a song. We started out by making 20 or so instrumentals, recorded them onto a tape, and broke down our sound and gave ourselves a genre. Hard/Classic Rock. Our Mom says we sound like wolfmother. But I don't hear it, I think we sound like just a random band. glad to hear someone give us feedback, mostly we get awful looks from neighbors!
So now, we have two tapes under our belt, one instrummentals, the other songs with lyrics. I love playing our songs and always enjoy recording with him. He is mostly easy to work with and if something needs changing, he does it.
Anyway, just thought I'd answer some questions and say thank you for the welcome.
