Talking I try to play ther drums...don't mind me...

Hey. My name's luke, and I was given a drumset for christmas...it's not particularly good, or expencive...but it's a drumset non-the-less; so I try to play it...

I'm self taught so far; as I've not found the time to get lessons, being a busy student an' all...but I'm considering taking lessons sometime soon, so I should improve a bit after that.

well, that's me...nice to find a drummer's community around here ^^

Nice to meet you! I have been playing since 1968. Most of my teachers were from England. If you like rock, go back to the 70's and get UFO, Sweet,Thin Lizzy,Judas Pries, tetc. They still kick in my book and they keep me on guard. Easy licks to play. Just have fun and don't expect too much. Set the kit up right and don't poke holes in the heads either! I have never broken a cymbal.

Hey man, welcome aboard. If you can manage, I'd suggest getting lessons pretty early to avoid learning bad habits. Good luck and keep shouting if you need anything.

Sorry to be a bit late welcoming you ... but ... well ... welcome!

I second the recommendation to take lessons. It's better to learn the basics from the beginning, than to have to back later and unlearn bad habits.

And as for the cheap kit ... I'm still playing the $300 Pacific kit I started on 3 years ago. If you swap out the heads and upgrade the cymbals, you'll be amazed at how much better the kit sounds.

Glad to have you on the board.
