Good Ol' sounthern boy

Well where do I start, I got the bug ever since I was little when I was 2 my grandparents got my first drumset after that it was over. Around 8 I really got interested in the drums so I started fooling around in church and messed around and taught my self how to play. I tried to get a teacher but I left the church. I joined my high school drum line and learned rudiments to get my selft better. So now I have been at this last church for 5 years and I have been trying to get better at playing but it seems like I am still at the stage when I was 8 years old. I mean I keep keep tempo and do certain stuff but I have'nt really improved that much. So now I am 18 and I am really looking to improve myself.

I have really taken interst in learning how to play rock music I really like the way the drums sound and the drummers are awsome, and I have also taken interest in jazz and soul I want to be able to play for a band like the roots or Jill Scott or Erika Badu. So I guess I want to learn how to play everything if that is possible lol.

But thats me got any questions don't be afraid to ask.

Whats up? Glad to have ya here. Lots of ideas here about how to get better and stuff but in general I belive there are 3 things. Listen to music, play music with a band, and practice on your own to build chops. Cya around

Here, here! Welcome friend. My advice would be to definately get yourself a teacher A.S.A.P! You have no idea how much potential you've got until you can work with someone on it.

Good Luck!
