Post Bass player who thinks he's a drummer

I've been playing bass for 20 years and about 12 years ago I got a hold of a set of drums and started breaking sticks. Having so much fun brought me to buy the first of several drum kits and pieces. I'm at the point of buying something better now and would like to here from others what they play and think of different drum kits. I play a set of Pearl export's with Evans coated heads. Mostly straight forward drum lines and rolls. I'm also new to the world of forums and chats and may screw up form time to time.
Thanks
Larry

I too, am currently playing an export and am thinking of upgrading.

The only sensible step up to me seems to be a maple kit. I went to my local shops and tried a ton of different kits. Maple, Birch, Jarrah. Maple realy sounded right to me.I beleave the exports tried to emulate their sound with the old poplar exports, but you can only go so far. Did you know the Forum has exactly the same shells as the top line exports?

Anyway, in the lower priced category of maple kits, I've been looking at the all-new Pearl ecx maple export, Pacific cxr, Sonor force 3005, but so far the one that has really stood out for versatility, value for money and great looks is the Mapex pro-m.

My advice, do your own research, go to the shop and beat the drums yourself, but to really get started check out this site. It helped me out tonnes!

Good luck and let us know how you went.
