But what ever, it works for now. |

Welcome to the ranch, podnah !! Nice to hear another voice from a young person just starting out. Are you building a group with some other musicians in school??
Check the Musicians Friend and Music 123 and other sites on the web for inexpensive equipment. Please, when you find one, check in with all of these guys for an opinion. (If you're lucky, they won't bury you with 3000 different opinions) The good news is,--these fellow drummers will do anything they can to help you. That's a great part of what we're all doing here. Glad to have you with us. |

| | Hey buddy, nice to meet you. Cool avatar. My school used to have a pearl session series. I used to make that thing sound so good. Problem was music teachers don't know jack about drum kits, so you end up with mismatched crap all over the place that the guy at the store told them to buy. |

| | I'm not sure what I plan on getting yet, probly a ddrum, Im getting something that is relatively cheap and still has decent sound, so i'm not sure how these drums fit in those categories. And yea, we got a band at school with a couple of different kids, were learning a buch of older rock songs cause out band teacher wants us to do them for our band concerts at school. Oh, and currently my drummer (i'm in a band) has been leaving his drums at my house so ive been practicing on them (CB drumset) |

I want to suggest another for you to look at. I'm talking about the Pulse drums from Musicians Friend. I am only recommending these because my Son bought a set about 2 years ago. I really figured they would be the usual pile of imported junk.
The sound and construction of the drums was excellent. The pedal and stands are worth about $4.00. My suggestion is to take a look at them. If you like them, order their shell pak set. It comes in a wide variety of covered finishes. (Which do not affect the sound). The covered finishes are cheaper and are not so susceptible to scratches. Then buy the Pulse Pro hardware. The pedal is awesome. The hi-hat and stands are well built and bullet proof. Good quality. Overall a very good beginner drum kit. Hope this input gives you some food for thought. |

| | I'm not sure what the price difference is, but you may want to consider something in the pearl range. The forum is the same poplar shells as their previous export series (which I currently play) and the step up from there is now the vision series which seem like some pretty serious drums for the begginer/intermediate market. I've my export now for a long time and they are still holding strong. I too have heard some not fantastic reviews on the cheaper ddrum sets. |

Who?--What?? Guss is that set you were talking called "Grove" or "Groove" I think Sam Ash pushes a brand called "Groove". Was your set an all maple??
