Cool Hey guys!

Hi everyone, my name is Bryan. I'm from small town Ohio, and I actually just started my journey as a drummer. I'm 20 yrs old. Right now, all I could afford is a Pulse 5pc kit. Despite the knowledge that its an entry level kit, it was in the right price range. Like I said, I'm just starting out, so if anyone has any tips or advice they would like to share, it is more than welcome! Look forward to meeting ya'll and getting to know ya! ~Bryan

Re: Hey guys!

Welcome Bryan!
I haven't been here too long, but I'm normally a pretty big supporter of whatever forums I join, so I'll be happy to help you if I can.

Suggestions:
Practice Practice Practice... The more muscle memory you develop the easier it will be to perform anything you learn. I started out in band in grade school with a snare, so basic rudiments have always come easy.

You said you're just starting, so where you wanna start: Flam, paradiddle, and flam taps. That should keep you busy for a while, but look up some other rudiments to learn more basics, then you'll understand more about how to put these sounds together.

If you need help, don't hesitate to PM me.

Re: Hey guys!

Thank you for the warm welcome!

I was in band from 5th grade thru my senior year. I played saxophone. I always thought all aspects of drum playing were interesting and neat, but I wasn't permitted to play any type of percussion because my mother said that drums were not a musical instrument. So now, at the age of 20, I'm gonna try and learn. Thanks for the suggestions. If I have any questions, I will definately be in contact!

Re: Hey guys!

I know the area, sure. I grew up in Wooster and went to college up in Alliance, so that's not too terribly far away!

Nah, that's not too far away at all. What college is in Alliance? I go to school in Pittsburgh, PTI.
