New to the forum, new to drumming

Hey everybody. I've never drummed before, but I'm looking to get started, which is why I signed up here.

I've played several other musical instruments (guitar, sax, piano, etc.) but not drums.

hey well that is good that you can play music if you can read and understand music then you should be fine on drums... see drums are just the rhythm part of music....unless your playing the xylaphone or marimba, but they are different, I play piano, guitar and some violin, those all kind of go hand in hand and are the same concept... drums are a completely different concept...but that was the first instrument i started on when i was very young... so it just comes natural now... good luck though.. you should be fine... if you have any questions, just ask.

Welcome I was in the same boat a few years back, I had played Piano, organ, guitar, and Trombone, and Bass, picked up an entry level set, and got together with a drum playing friend who got me started, and away I went. I think Drums are probably the most fun out of all the instruments I've played.

I think they are the most fun instrument too.. though frustrating at times to get all the limbs coordinated, lol.

Sometimes you right foot just INSISTS on going down on a beat when it is supposed to be silent.

I have played alot of instruments too, there is nothing like struggling to try to do a chord your fingers can barely reach, or putting up with painful fingertips til you get a good set of callsuses on them!
I have played a bunch of other instruments too, and I always thought that a good song, was good, in large part to the drummer who was on it.

If it had a good beat, I usually liked the song, no matter what the lyrics were, or how well it was sung.
It is just so hard though to find good drum teachers, whose schedules are not filled up.
So.. I am going to try to teach myself, for now, because I cannot find a teacher.

So... where do you find tablature for the songs you want to learn?

It would be neat if the drum manufacturers could put alot of the popular songs with cool beats, make up the tablature so the young drummers or new drummers could learn the songs we love so much.
