Hey people, I'm new to the forum as well. Currently, I'm 18 and in college. I don't have a drumset yet, but I plan on getting one. The problem is that I have no clue about the hardware yet, simply that I'm interested in learning to do so, and I'm wondering what would be the best drumset to get for a price of about $1k tops (preferably less).

I'm residing in the Netherlands, so it will need to be deliverable there. The type of music I'm planning to play is (thrash) metal, so anything that would adjust to that would help a lot as well. Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure if they are available in the Netherlands, but I was in my local Drum shop today and checked out the Pearl Vision line and was pretty impressed. They would be in your price range, and should be a good choice for your style of music. The Gretsch Catalina Maple set would also be good in that price range. You would need to order a separate hardware package and cymbals.

Thanks. Finally got around to buying a drumset. I've ordered one, but haven't received it yet. I ordered a Pearl Vision VX-925.

Hey guys, being the newbie I am, I just found out I need more parts then just those that were submitted. No cymbals or drumsticks were included for example, and I'm not a great assembler either, so I'm experiencing some difficulties setting things up here. Drumset arrived today.

I'd suggest you get some lessons first off. A good teacher will help you purchase some sticks and give good advice about cymbals.

And there's nothing worse than teaching yourself a bad stick technique early on only to have to re-learn a good one after.
