Hello Drumming world

Hello, I'm new here, obviously.

I guess drumming background would be a good way to start. Well I'm a sophomore in college and I've been playing since 3rd grade, you do the math. The way they did the music program back in elementary school was just having the director go to the classes and ask kids if they wanted to play. I wanted to be a sax player, but due to a biking accident the week before one arm was in a cast. All i could do was hold a drumstick in one hand and play quarter notes . I had never read or played a sheet of music before, but just knew how to play what was in front of me. So he told me I had an excellent sense of rhythm, and here I am today. Been playing ever since..... Thank god for that accident.

My first kit was some junker that was donated to me by my friends dad. No logo, no emblem, no serial number, nothing to tell what brand it was. Years later I figure out the 3 cymbals it came with were some vintage Zildjians. in 6th or 7th grade I got a Tama Rockstar, spent two years building it, and have been playing it ever since. All in All I've put about $2700 into over the years (that includes cymbals)

Through highschool I played with just about any band who needed a drummer. Grunge, Punk, Metal, I did it all....... I just love performing. But my main band, and the one I had the best times with, was me and three buddies who just loved playing classic rock / southern rock.

My favorite drummer? Bonham.......

I have 6 years experience with marching percussion. Marched all 4 years of HS, two years center snare and Drum Cpt.. And two years, so far, smack in the middle of the (excelent) bassline on the University of Pittsburgh Drumline. Yeah Bass!!!!

Aside from my drumming I'm very into tech theater / Performing. I usually Focus on Light / Sound design. I feel at home behind a massive sound board. I always set up for my own shows. I'm also really into photography and I'm a HUGE poker player.

That's about it! just from looking around I think I'm gonna like it here!

IronLionZion,
Welcome to the forum, Looking forward to interacting with you here. Nothing wrong with Rudiment bass in a drum line, it isn't as easy as people think it is.

Haha. If it wasn't copyright infringement I would post some of our music. It definitely aint easy. We're a Div-1 Big East drumline and we spend all summer working on our cadences. 64 note splits and all that good stuff
