Advice wanted on Ludwig v Tama drums

Hello everyone

Any views on which is preferable: a Tama Rockstar Custom or a Ludwig birch classic set? I want it for my son who is a beginner. Both sets are second hand.

Thanks

Silverwood

Re: Advice wanted on Ludwig v Tama drums

This is going to be a tough call. Have you seen the sets, I would inspect them very carfully for condition, has one been taken care of better than the other?
Are they both the same configuration and size drums. The Tama I Believe is a standard 5 piece set in Rock sizes, but the Ludwig comes in Several different size and configuration options.

All things being the same my personal preference would probably be the Ludwig. I personally like the sound of Birch drums. Tama sets are well built and hold up well. Either one of these would be a good choice for a beginner. I would base my decision on condition, price, either set come with cymbals or other extras, like a throne, etc.?
