Hey everybody! Nice site!

My name is Craig, and, as my username suggests, I live in the state of Alabama, just outside of Mobile. I am 18 yrs old, and I couldn't really tell you how I learned to play the drum set. I've never really played much at all over the years until just recently. I have a 5-pc Ludwig set, and I just bought a new set of cymbals...Zildjian ZHT 14" hi-hats, 16" & 18" rock crashes, and 20" ride. It's b/c I have more than a basic 5-pc set that I'm playing my drum set more. My problem is, well, I can play basic grooves like one sleeps...naturally! However, I'm really not so great at catchy grooves and fills. I'm trying to figure out some stuff on my own, and I've come up w/ a few, but I pretty much suck compared to everyone else. I'm trying to learn by listening and watching videos of drum solos, songs w/ groovy drum rhythms, etc. I want to improve so much, and I really look forward to meeting you experienced drummers out there!

Hi Craig, glad to have you here.

I'd suggest getting some lessons for your problem. I think I learnt that stuff from having a teacher tell me where the beats fell to make certain grooves, read some stuff from the page.
