Greetings From Illinois

Hello fellow drummers.

My name is Bill, aka forpetessake!

I started drumming waaaaaaayyyyyy back in 1978 when I was 11 yrs old!

My buddy convinced me to join a drum and bugle corps. I was more interested in the travel and girls than playing drums.

But it took, and I have been a drummer ever since. Back then my major influence was Peter Criss. And today he is one of my inspirations.

I have other influences too.

I have done a lot to persue my music career. I was in 2 bands. Have over 20 demos recorded. Marched in several drum corps. Past auditions and was to be in the US Marines D&B Corps (But I couldnt pas swimming qualifications). I was a music major in college, and have played in almost every type of live performance.

My 2nd band released an album back in 1987.

So that's about it.

I have been retired since 1990 but I am getting a new kit this year and getting back on the throne!

Re: Greetings From Illinois

Hi Bill,
Your story is mostly like mine. Been drumming all my life until I left it on 1987. Always kept a drum kit in house but had like a trophy. Right now I'm back to drums and "starting" off again at age of 50!
Welcome to the forum.

Here in Spain there is a famous singer named Miguel Rios who made famous the saying "Los viejos rockeros nunca mueren" which traduced means "The old Rockers never die"
