Newby from Walla Walla

Yes it's true. There really is a town named Walla Walla - actually two, one here in Washington and (correct me if I'm wrong), one in Austrailia. I'm new to DSC and have been playing at a moderatly low level of skill for the past 40 years (off and on - more on lately). I'm in the market for a new set and I've been looking at the Ddrum Diablo punx 5 piece set. Any comments about that particular drum kit?

Re: Newby from Walla Walla

Many drum companies have been gearing up to offer less quality kits. At least in the wood department. I think this had much to do with some recent games about drumming. Still sit behind one of those kits and give it a few thumps. If you like the sound then great. You will most likely find that if the construction of the drum is good overall then head selection will make a much greater impact on your overall sound.

A great resource for information is to go to Musician's Friend - Buy musical instruments, music gear, musical equipment online and read their remarks about the kits. They are usually pretty accurate.

I agree. Try out a bunch of different kits and focuss on the frequencies the different woods give off.

Check out this site, it has great tips on how to choose drums.
