hi there guys, joined this site because i am a drummer interested in improving. here is a bit about the drumming orientated side of me:
- i am 16
- i'm a massive fan of metal, in particular thrash, death and black metal.
-some of my drumming idols include chris adler from lamb of god, steve asheim from Deicide, Pete Sandoval from Morbid Angel (my favourite band) and Tom hunting from Exodus.
-i have been learning the drums for 6 months now at my school. i am taught by a great drum teacher called Neil Martin, and will be for at least the next 2 years.
-i am in a small highschool band with 4 friends and we are just starting out making songs. in the next few months i want to have at least 2 songs recorded and a dedicated band myspace.
-I want to become very, very good at drums and would love to be in a metal band when i am older.
-due to family and living in a semi-detached home, i can't have a real drum kit. instead i have a yamaha DTXplorer electric drum kit.
-i recently bought a set of brass Paiste cymbals, including 2 crashes, a crash/ride (which i don't particularly like, and would prefer a more distinctive ride sound.
- i wan't to get myself some splashes, i much prefer them to crashes.
- i have a stagg double bass pedal which i
detest/1 beause it does not have any stabaliser plates. The slave pedal always slides forward and crumples up while im playing.
- i hope to get a mapex P580 double bass pedal which i use in my drum lessons.
- i am trying to learn the heel-toe technique but am finding it very difficult with my current double bass pedals.
- i can currently play reasonably well, i am decently independant with my hands and feet. however im still trying to master liniar phrasing- putting accents and flams into it.
- i can do blast beats fairly well.
- i have dificulty in performing fast drum fills, and really want to get better at these as they are a weakness in my playing.
- i have drummed infront of a crowd for 5 minutes during a school band event.
im here for advice on playing, equipment, recording and other drum orientated subjects.
looking forward to your advice
