freshman from florida

hey guys, i just kind of joined so I could get some different oppinions on the new drum set I am buying. I want a pdp platinum series set, but I cant decide if I should get the snare, bass, one high tom, and one floor tom; or if I should get two floor toms and no snare. I cant really afford both. I know the kit snare drums are alot of times not that great, but I'm kindof thinking this snare could be pretty nice, plus it would be sonically matched to the kit or whatever, not to mention it would look great with the kit. Also does anyone if there is a maple pdp series that is similar or same quality as the platinum series, but maybe an older model? That might save me some money, cause I dont have to have the newest, hottest kit, I just want the highest quality in pdp. Thanks for all your help!!!

I'm personally not an owner, but I do know that pdp snares are very nice indeed.

That said, if you want that other floor tom, I'd go with that now and get a better snare later. You'll have a lot more difficulty trying to match a floor tom later on (provided your line is discontiued by then) than you will a snare drum. Snares rarely have to match, they are always going to have a different sound to the rest of your set.
