Hello fellow drummers

Greetings to all, I'm probably taking a shot in the dark however I hope there may be some one who has been in the business long enough to answer my question. I'm a drummer of 22 years, well versed in a variety of music and generas. I have played countless live gigs, spent numerous hours in studio settings, and have done some light traveling with groups I have played with in the past. So here it is, How do I get to the next level. Where do I go to find solid steady work as a drummer? Be it studio, touring, etc. I currently play in two cover bands, but the interest is quickly fading. Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Yours in the Music

Re: Hello fellow drummers

Ever thought of working in a music store? Or maybe even working as a studio drummer.

I have been drumming for more like 10 years on and off, but I do know how fun it can be working at a drum shop, meet new people, find out of new gigs, get a discount and most importantly help beginners.

Studio, If I learn more about other genres I might try this, I have a friend who is a studio drummer, he is all ways talking about buying cymbals, new drums and has helped me out in the store many a time.

Hopefully you can read that, my two cents worth, the studio artist I know does both!

Re: Hello fellow drummers

Thanks for the input Gus. My situation however is more critical with having two small children and a wife that is a stay at home mom. The drum shop probably wouldn't quite pay the bills. I have access to studios and projects in them with other musicians the only problem is that it is all on a local level. (NO MONEY) I would be willing to turn my long time hobby in to a full time career, it's just figuring out how to do it and where to go.
