Hello everyone!

Hi all,

My name is Luke, but that username is already taken, so lukeykookey it is!

I am a 26 year old lad from Manchester, England.
Since the age of about 9 I was obsessed with drums in music. I used to listen to the drums alone, and could play every song I knew on my teeth by banging them together in my head, made all the different notes and even the bass!

When I got to about 12, I realised I could use my mums knitting needles and the sofa, really pissing my dad off 'WHATS THAT BANGING!!?!?!'

So, about a month ago, someone offers me a drumkit for FREE just to get it out of the way. After a barney with the Mrs over space and noise, I won

Its a Pearl export series, with one different tom, unbranded....
Paiste cymbals and hi hat.

However I have been relegated to the basement, quite echoey, but at least I can try them out now!

I have picked the basics up pretty well I think, my attempt at tuning ended disastrously, and everytime I go on them it just doesn't sound right, and I cant get them to sound right. I know its a black art, or one to be learned with lots of practice. I will be patient.

I've started to play some decent beats, and keep finding myself going back to a funky style almost all the time.

Currently learning to exploit the hi-hat. What a fantastic instrument that is!

I hope I can gain lots of advice on here, looks a great forum, good bunch of people.

Re: Hello everyone!

I don't really have a lot of advice for the actual learning other than time and practice...depending on the availability and resources of some helping, but for tuning I recommend " The Drum Set Crash Course"...Tuning Edition by Russ Miller.

:Best of luck......Thumpthdrum
