Re: portable drum riser oh man, there are tons of ways to do that. I would build 2 identical frames with 2x6 inch lumber then use good plywood flooring for it. Build it some receiving squares in every corner of each frame to accept 4x4 inch lumber cut to the height dimension you want to raise your set. Definitely use screws then once you build them, connect them together with a couple sets of long bolts, washers and wing nuts for easy dis assembly. The 4x4 riser legs may not need to be fastened if you build the receiving box for them nice and tight. Might need a rubber mallet Velcro fastened to the bottom of the riser. the finished product may be heavy but when disassembled, it shouldn't take up too much room. Maybe figure in adding some handles to make transport and loading in and out a little easier.
