To get that fast you mostly have to find the perfect postions for your feet. Practice a lot with the double kick faster and faster, with working on endurance.

Too funny Gus... you're a hoot.

I have tried but I still don't like that bass technique. Sure it's instantly fast but I hate the off balance feeling and I can't imagine you'd be able to move through a dynamic range of volumes that way. Maybe you could with practice.

But I'm going to keep playing with my heel down if it kills me! I'm comfortable that way. I'm faster than I ever thought I'd be in just a few months. I feel planted securely in the ground. I can keep back of the snare instead of crouching over it. My lower back doesn't hurt. And I can play a super fast, very quiet single stroke roll with loud accents if I want. And even my double stroke roll is coming along.

Maybe I'll end up being one of those cats who can use several different foot techniques at will depending on the circumstance. I sure hope so!

Nice was practicing the heel-toe technique today. It's so easy!

Just need my double bass pedal (getting for xmas ), then i'll be away! Figured by using the high hat pedal as a 2nd bass pedal (same sort of feel if you don't have a double pedal yet :P), I could do some pretty fast stuff straight out with that technique.

But I admit I'm gunnu practice heel down and heel up as well, as you said feels more secure, and imo easier to keep time (When I get my pedal of course).

Can't damn wait til I get mah pedal! haha
