Welcome to the forum, and good luck on your new endeavor. Scheduling in a few lessons when you're in town would be a good idea. You can learn from videos, and books, but there is nothing like a live teacher to get you started on the right foot.

Re: Newbie

Cool ok. Just a thought, do you ever have access to a proper kit? Because it's fair enough practicing rudiments on a practice pad - I should do more of that! But you really need to play on a proper kit to develop the co-ordination and the general "everything" of playing drums (becoming attuned to drum positions and agility round the kit, stuff like that). You could be a rudiments expert but be ****e on drums if you've never played them before.

Unless your a natural it can be harder than it looks. Sorry if you've already played on a proper kit loads! Just a thought.

Re: Newbie

Yes I've got 2 sets I jumped in head first.I've got a 4 piece Remo Triumph kit from the mid 90s~good solid drums in rock sizes, they sound like thunder.I ran across a brand new pdp x7 in gold sparkle fade for $430,couldn't pass up the deal and they sure are purdy They don't have sound and power of the Remo's but to be fair they have the stock skins on them that they shipped with.New ones are on the way.
