Cool Drummer wanting to be wanted

hey my name is Tony, im 22 i've been a drummer since i was in diapers.. i was born into it. i live eat and breath music. it's my one and only passion, the one and only thing i kno how to do best, and the one and only thing i kno how to do right and well enough to make a living. i want more than anything to be a valuable asset to someone's band. i've been playing drums since i was old enough to talk. i also like to mix it up a little and play this that and the other, but i am, and always will be, a drummer at heart until the day i die. anyway, my only downfall is i cant read music, but i can hang with the best. i can play a wide variety of music and instruments and if i can ever manage to get into a studio i come in pretty handy when it comes to mixin tracks. i can switch up instruments, my lead vocals are decent, and i can sing great back-up vocals. not very many people can harmonize, but i can. i can also sing back-ups and play. i do it all. and all i want is for ppl to recognize me for my talent and give me the benefit of the doubt. i need to be recruited NOW!!!!!!!! need a drummer? bassist? guitarist? lead vocalist? sound tech? email me im goin nuts i wanna play some shows!!!!!!!!!....... Titusville, pa email is fuggit420@hotmail.com..

Jack of all instruments, Master of non.

Welcome to the forum.

With all that talent, I'm surprised you haven't got a job playing. Must be the economy affecting the music field.

Been self taught myself but only playing as a hobby since I was 8. That was 50 years ago.

How did you manage to keep your drum sticks clean during the diaper changing years?

Welcome to the forum, read the rules and have fun.

P.S. Have you tried a studio job?

Re: Drummer wanting to be wanted

thanks glad to be a part of it...well, when i was little i just broke out any eating utencils and tupperware i could find, if i didnt have pots and pans i banged on anything visible, lol and when we went to eat chinese i banged on everything with chopsticks and pissed everyone off lol.. then i got my first real pearl 5 piece when i was about 4 or 5 and when my uncle (who was basically my dad) and everyone else realized it wasnt just a phase for mei upgradede every year piece by piece for christmas and birthdays.. and now im just obsessed with music it's my one and only passion.. i wish to god i could be up on stage. thats why god put me here. it'd be nice if i had a studio job but i live in a hole in the wall town in pennsylvania, and i have no connections, and i am have absolutely NO luck with the band thing.. i cant find anyone dedicated enough to do what it takes to get to where i wanna be. everyone just wants to party. it would be a dream come true to be in a studio or up on stage. i dont know how to do anything else, nor do i want to. i wasnt put on this planet to wash dishes and bus tables... i was put on this planet to team up with some other creative minds and try to help keep rock n roll alive. thats why i joined this site. i am hell bent on and determined to get something going cuz if i cant make a living playing music for the rest of my life i'd rather not exist. it makes me sick seeing all these ppl my age on MTV doin what i've wanted to do my whole life im im not right there with them and i should be because im flooding with ideas and creativity and passion for music and im wasting it all away in some stupid restaurant rotting in this damn town and i REALLY want to make something work or im never gonna have any fulfillment in life.. sry for babbling i just needed to get that out. lol glad to meet u tho

Re: Drummer wanting to be wanted

If you've really gotthe passion my friend then sounds to me like you're going to have to go where the action is. Start haing around studios as muh as possible. Be the guys assistant for free for a while. Move some where you're more likely to get into a band that's going places ie, new York or la. Start learning sheet music and treat your metronome like your god if you want to get studio workand even then you'll probably need to study at university for years.

Bottom line is and don't mean to be rude, most musicians I run into who are complaining about not making it are usually not doing all they can. So put yourself in the picture or be happy with the little you've got

Re: Drummer wanting to be wanted

since i've been into music my whole life and been in the local band scene i've learned how to take advice, and constructive criticism. i dont think ur being rude at all, ur just being straight forward. and i appreciate the advice. im gonna keep that advice in the back of my head and try the hardest i can do do exactly that. it's just gonna be one hell of a mission given my situation and my location, but i want to go somewhere with my music so bad i'll do whatever it takes, because it's definately not just a hobby for me. it's my life. but anyway, thanks for ur input.

Not to be commercialism or anything like that, maybe you could get up some gear and try out for the show "America's Got Talent".

If you apply yourself to some talent show, who knows what may come from it?

Talent scouts also look at YouTube.
