Hey from Southern California

Hey there party people! I'm new here...stumbled over the threads while looking for Taye Drums. (doing research for a new kit)

Anyway, thought I would say hi. I hate going to forums and not coming back to check in.

Anyway, almost 39, been playing for a while....just sold some Gretsch's and with the extra money that I didn't use, I'm buying a new kit....getting restarted playing again.

I play a Taye StudioMaple at my church and was thinking that's the way to go. Anyway, trying to stick to a "hey, howdy".

Hope ya'll have a good one and let me know what you play.

Welcome to the forum BonzoStomp.

Taye drums are good drums but my preference is still Gretsch Custom Maple.

Good luck on your quest and happy drumming.

Hey BONZOSTOMP I heard that Taye drums sound as good as DW just they don't cost as much would you agree to that?

Wow it's been a while since I've been on the board here....but yes, Taye Drums sound every bit as good if not better than the evil two letter company. Seriously? those shells with the reinforcement rings and all that marketing spun to make us think they're superior. OK....enough of my soapboxing.

I agree with the other cat that likes the Gretsch USA Customs. Those were my first real kit, but my church had a Renown and now has a StudioMaple......the StudioMaples blow the Renowns away. Way away.

So, when I get a kit, I'm getting a Taye StudioMaple...for the money, you can't beat it....except with a stick.

Hey Bonzo, glad to see you on the forum again. The old Slingerland drums also used those reinforcement rings back in the 50's. Those were really rugged drums and sounded great too.

I've got the USA Gretsch Maples with the 30 degree bearing edge. The good old sound of the 60's. And yeah, they sound very deep and rich wood sounding.

Hey guy what's up?
I'm probably really late on that "hey".
Anyways...I love DW and their little company PDP...but that's just my preference(:
"Evil" people play "evil" drums with two and three letter names.
