Howdy Hello folks,
29 yr old dormant drummer getting back on the horse/throne after about 6 years of non-play. Been in bands and performing since I was 14 till about 22. Started with alt-rock styles ala Nirvana, soundgarden, melvins, sonic youth and later converted to the dark side, Speed/Death/Melodic metal. I eventually got tired of dealing with the bandmate dynamics and sold my drums and moved on.
I started regretting that decision about 6 months later but always told myself.. "bah, not like you're going pro anyways, so focus on something that will get you ahead in life"
Well, I pretty much stopped listening to music regularly and music stores always made me sad and frustrated. I'd get that little stir inside me and couldn't bear to listen because it reminded me how much I want to be playing.
I've done tons of various hobbies to fill the void, from photgraphy to woodwork to guitar playing but it never holds my gaze for very long. In between each interest, I always long for drums. My girl of 5 years has always supported me in my endeavors and she is always telling me if I want to play so bad then shut-up and do it.
So, anywhoo, I found a crazy deal on craigslist that a fool would pass up, 300$ or trade for guitar amp type of deal. I promptly drove 2.5 hrs north and said, "I'll take it"
So, now I have a Nice 10 year old forest green Yamaha Stage custom 6 piece with 4 cymbals, a roc-soc throne, iron cobra dbl pedal, and pearl 14x3.5 maple picc (debating trading that one) with really nice hardware all around.
Yep, I scored...
I think I'll name it, Tamaha, in honor of 'the set that got away'...
Well, sorry for the forever post, but figured I'd get it all out there at once.

Re: Howdy Welcome to the forum Mr. Paulo.
Sounds like you've got a good deal on the drum kit. At least you got the support you needed to get back on the drum throne.
Good Luck to you and have fun with your new toy. |

Re: Howdy Whaddup Paulo!! I grew up with the Melvins, Nirvana and Soundgarden as well. Recently converted to the dark side. It's hard to listen to those old influences now isn't it? Sounds like a sweet drum set. You got the Iron Cobra with it too? |

But I do like to incorporate some of the dynamics and styles.
It came with a power glide double and actually a rolling glide single too. I guess I have a parts pedal, lol. Or maybe ebay it when I'm hard up for cash.
Thanks to the rest of the posters as well for the warm welcome. |

Thanks to the rest of the posters as well for the warm welcome. | I've been trying to decide between the power, rolling, and flexi glide systems. Do you notice a difference between the power and rolling or prefer one over the other? | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
