hello

Hello to the Mods and the forum. I decided to finally start actually reading and learning about drums and then hopefully buy a set of drums to play. I am from Iowa, USA and I am 21 I played drums when I was very very young in the school band, but quit because "it wasn't cool" to be in band back then. Anyways I pretty much forgot everything and I've grown up with friends playing guitars mostly But I always seem to want to get back into drums and learn and play them. Another thing I was confused about is people have different amount of drums in there sets. Like Back then I had 5 but I see people with 7 or more and I just assume(there song they are playing) required more drums? I don't know just something I got to learn. Any helpful things or links be great. Thanks for reading and hopefully Ill become a vet in the community.

Hey, gardascia, welcome to Drumset Connect!

You know, some drummers are moving to only 4 drums because they really want to focus on their drumming skills and not worry about show. Others are going to 7 or even more drums because that's the kind of kit they want to play. In my opinion, it's a matter of personal preference. Others may disagree.

If you've got rhythm in you, you're just naturally going to gravitate back toward drums. Nothin' like 'em.

gardascia,

Just for fun, check out this video. It shows the biggest drum set I've ever seen.
