Re: Brand new

Well, at the moment I play on 4 kits. The 2 main ones are a 5-piece Rockwood (by Holmer), and my starter set, a 5-piece Pulse kit. The Pulse kit has brand new heads on everything and is tuned to sound like a mid-level kit. I actually gig with it because it sounds that good.

For now, my pride and joy is my Pearl Piccolo snare drum. I put a REM-O on it and use it as my primary snare most of the time.

My play style includes Gospel, Rock, and Punk. Of course I have my favorite sub genres like hardcore and alternative rock.

Right now, I just auditioned for a new band. Talented group of people and it looks I will be moving forward with them.

AS FOR DRUM KITS.... I am a few weeks away from buying a new kit. I think I want a 4-piece to force myself to be more creative. Also, I will purchase new cymbals for some higher quality sound.

Any suggestions on a 4-piece kit? I would like the option of adding another floor tom later on. Ddrum caught my eye with the AMX kits. Price seems right. $600 seems to be the idea max for the shells so then I would have some wiggle room to buy hardware and maybe a cymbal or two while staying under $1000. Like I said, I could always add-on. This is just the start of my long-term gig set.

Re: Brand new

What bothers me is that there are so many good reviews for ddrum, but every couple reviews you see a person who is not too happy with it. I think I will have to go with my gut feeling on what looks like it will be a great set and just buy it.
