Smile Professional drummer saying hi!

Hi everybody,

My name is Mark Doherty hailing from the UK and I'm a professional music teacher teaching the drums and piano. I started learning the drums when I was aged 13 way back in 1976. I remember when my drum teacher gave a drum demonstration which started it all for me. I studied drum kit at school and then went on to study percussion at college e.g tympani/xylophone etc while gaining a certificate of merit from my school.

I spent most of the 80s as a professional musician playing all over the UK and Europe, spending a year in Italy. 1990 saw me taking extra study at Drumtech in London which is an excellent school founded by Francis Seriau and I kept abreast of the latest drum concepts/developments there. 1992 saw me taking up piano and my degree in 1999, graduating with a BA hons in 2004 in music. I am currently taking Grade 8 piano and then a Rock School exam in drums. My main influences were Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich initially but extend to Steve Gadd/Dave Weckl/Dennis Chambers to name a few. Steve Gadd's grooves are excellent to study especially Crazy Army. I look forward to exchanging ideas with other drummers on here.

Ciao,

Mark ps if there are any drummers out there who need some help with hand a foot technique, let me know. Also, does anybody have an online copy of the Gadd crazy Army?

Hi there dtxtreme,

Thanks for welcoming me aboard; now we can talk drums man!. Thanks for the drum tab for Crazy Army; if you see the actual sheet music link somewhere then let me know. I'm developing Moellar Technique as I did a lot of this at Drumtech and there are some excellent videos on this especially Derrick Pope so check this out on Youtube. We never stop learning and this is what makes music so unique along with the ability to express yourself. I used to play the Crazy Army solo by Gadd from the Up Close package but I lost it along the way moving house. I currently practice on an Electronic Drum Set which is great for quiet practice

Saw lost of internet posts asking for Crazy Army as you are. Think a serious internet search would be needed to find it, if it's findable.

I play a Yamaha DTXTREMEIIISPECIAL electronic kit. It's a blast!

Hey Jazzman, welcome aboard. If it is no trouble for you to post lessons I'm sure many would find them invaluable.

My baby is a sonor 3007, but I've also got a Roland td-6 with a few pads for practice and effecta which I cherish dearly.

Hope we can see some video of you in action soon.
