Re: Ginger Baker

There was an interesting story by Ginger a few years back: Ginger had a huge falling out with Ludwig, but not over the quality of the instruments, but tour support in the US. I wish I could remember where I saw the complete interview - and I am sure the Ludwig rep(s) that refused to support Ginger's US dates with DJQ20 (Jazz) was probably fired after another line of drums (DW) immediately picked Ginger up, rushing to build him a custom set for the dates.

As the story goes Ginger personally made one phone call to Ludwig competitor DW - and that's all it took to get a sponsorship replacement.

A side note, unrelated to this story:
In 2002 Ludwig USA, Inc. became a subsidiarity of Conn-Selmer, Inc., which in turn is a subsidiarity of Steinway Musical Instruments, Inc.

It's on the bottom line of this article.
