So of seven of the world's best drummers, Mike Mangini has become the new drummer for the legendary prog band Dream Theater.

I think it's a great choice, but how do you guys feel about this?

I started telling people I drum like Dream Theater and Mastodon, I guess I could say the old DT...

I don't expect DT to be like before, but if they are going to continue making music, Mangini is a pretty good match for them.

Mangini is currently considered the fastest drummer alive, right?

He had 3 or 4 records, but I think a few have been broken. If my memory is correct, he currently holds one, but I know not what for.

Checked it out. Mangini won the World's Fastest Drummer for Hands eight years in a row including 2010. Don't know about 2011.

But according to wiki, bare hands and traditional singles are no longer his titles, so I think WFD needs to update their website.

Mike had knee surgery and is no longer near the top with his legs.

Indeed. That has to be devastating. Imagine losing a limb, like Rick Allen.
