Re: 100 Greatest Rock Drummers If they're in order, Surely Stewart Copeland should be higher up. And there are a lot of non-rock drummers up there. |

Re: 100 Greatest Rock Drummers definately agree with keith moon and john bonham in top 10, but i would have figured tommy lee would at least make top 50, if not for his drumming skills, for his ability to put on a really awesome show.
but honorable mentions arent bad |

Re: 100 Greatest Rock Drummers This seems like a very subjective list, for example how did Max Weinberg make it in the top 50, but Levon Helmes didn't even get an honorable mention. I would place Levon above Max, but that's just my personal oppinion, and subjective also. I agree obviously with a lot of the people who did make the list, but then there are a few I think "how did they get on there and could list several I would have expected to see who didn't". |

Re: 100 Greatest Rock Drummers keith moon, either you love him or you hate him. I personally think he was a pioneer in giving the rock drummers then and now a known place on the stage(peer wise) with his crazy antics like trashing his drums, which then provoked pete to start breaking guitars, which then made ungodly loud "noise" which in turn sold tickets by the tens of thousands,...well you get where i'm going with this. so there will never be another keith moon,or buddy rich whom was a rare sight as a front man with his band.We can thank our lucky stars for what these percussionists did for exhibition, that makes us stand out on stage today professionals or amateurs alike. And where the hell is Neil Smith (alice cooper band) this man also impressed buddy rich so much with his worlds largest drumkit(22pc. slingerland) that buddy went out of his way to one of their concerts just to observe what kind of man could play such a kit. Buddy was very impressed by this very tall 6ft.4"crossdressers"playing abilities. In a nutshell,if you can produce gold and platinum recordings by being an obvious standout, you will not be forgotten anytime soon. |

Re: 100 Greatest Rock Drummers It would appear the list is not in order, at least I hope that is the case. It would be intersesting to break the list down and list drummers under different "sub-genres". A few names not mentioned who I would like to remind us all of: Barriemore Barlowe (Jethro Tull), Richard Bailey (Session, perhaps most notably Jeff Beck's Blow By Blow), Mike Giles of King Crimson, Chuck Burgi(was with Enrique Iglesias but check him out with Brand X) and Narada Michael Walden (Mahavishnu Orchestra's Visions of The Emerald Beyond being a must hear for groove, odd time and just a thunderous battery.) I could go on, as I'm sure we all could. Cheers. Oh! Mike Clarke (Herbie Hancock and Brand X). |
