I would think it's more like Watts from the Rollin Stones. Any body know?

Re: Oldest drummer?

The answer my friends, is still blowing in the wind.
SINGLE STROKE, now that was a good one.
Now watch out for the DEAD BEATS, they might come back and haunt you.
Should've posted that one on the drum joke thread.

Re: Oldest drummer?

I know there are a LOT of old drummers around here, including me, but the oldest? I'll have to look it up. Until them keep beating those skins until they beat you back...

Re: Oldest drummer?

If my mind is still intact, There is a new member that just joined last month. He's tomtbuck 68 and is from Northern Minnesota. There's the starting point for you. That should narrow down your search.

Now OK mugsy, where's fingers and and knuckles. Just kidding.

So Mr. Tombuck is 68, so far the oldest member to the forum I've come across.

He knows more about the Moeller system because Moeller was his teacher. He shows the Moeller method on youtube. If your interested watch him and remember his age and ask yourself
DO YOU THINK YOU WILL BE THAT GOOD AT THAT AGE??????
I just was looking at the Moeller system a couple days ago, his name popped up a lot!

Re: Oldest drummer?

Freddie Gruber may be just about the oldest drummer left. He will be 82 this May.

Freddie used to roommate with Buddy Rich--which is whee he picked up a lot of his technique.

Freddie is a great teacher, some of his students are: Vinnie Calaiuta, Steve Smith, Neil Peart and Dave Weckl.

~Cheers!

Re: Oldest drummer?

I didn't start this thread, I was just answering someone else and somehow got on to searching.
But thanks to everyone who replied and maybe someday one of us will be the oldest...if we live that long...

Peter, Paul and Mary: Mary was the one without the beard. Now that's a fact.
