Oh man, this is great stuff!!!Giveme...you have met your match here.Saying that I suck eggs and need a metronome pales in comparison to trying to diss Matt. Why not comment on his impressive accolades found on his site? Why not comment on the world records he holds in drumming or the rich history in his family? What is with that link you posted??Are you like a ghost or something? The questions could go for days...we are all waiting anxiously for you to post a video or an mp3 or just some pictures of you playing would be nice. They did have cameras back then right?

Well, you know wound licking usually takes a minute. You have to remember that poseurs are already vulnerable to begin with.

Guys like this (and he is a type) never praise anyone less than those in possession of icon status. They incorrectly believe that such associations are readily transferable to themselves. In the real world we call this wishful thinking.

They also think they're being clever when they stay on the offensive. It's all from Sun Tzu's The Art of War, another favored reference of pseudo intellectuals. They think that they are always supposed to go on the offensive when confronted. The problem with the strategy is that you really need to read the rest of the book.

Video for friends only huh? Well that one explains itself. As for the Stone article, with some extensive editing and a little more source quoting, he could claim a fairly passable article.

Thumbs down Tread carefully

Cough, Cough, The fire is pretty to watch, but the smoke is really getting thick. This thread has become a hazardous area. I'm going to wait over here by the fire truck with the rest of the technically unwashed. Oh! & be careful of what you step in. with all the smoke & bull flying around it's getting really messy.
I think the only good thing to come out of this is that this poor old building will finally get burned down. Then we can build a nice shiny new temple. Won't that be just precious??

With all respect I've been a regular attack target since winning last year's WFD title, and it's been totally stupid. Mostly its been from imbalanced guys in my age bracket who are emboldened by adults masquerading as drum saviors. I have been the unsolicited focus of any number of unorganized drum forum attacks that range from this givemethebeat character's inane ramblings to threads on metal forums where posters try to guess what my brains would look like on a bathroom wall if I comitted suicide. On one forum where I don't even participate, two huge attack threads of over 100 posts each had to be eliminated in their entirety.

As mentioned, I don't in any way shy away from legitimate criticism. But I am not a fan of shallow pseudo intellectualism parading as knowledge at my personal expense. Mostly, these pretender types are completely thrown off guard when they discover that I can not only think and write, but I actually have a clue. I am certain you have seen this guy's banter and the irritation it has caused others here. I had a couple of days off school, so I thought I would make an investment in the future. For all practical purposes I am done here, since his credibility has essentially been eradicated, if it ever existed in the first place.

Sir, you too would have a far different slant on these proceedings if this were you, or even more significantly... a son my age. These drum forums can be great places to talk shop and experience a little comraderie. But the personally directed foolishness has to go away first, and I will have no more of it.

Again, with all due respect.

To be honest Matt I could not give a rats about your 'title' I actually found out about this post 'critique'.

I am also sorry that you have endured so much bashing in your life, through your new found fame.

As far as rebutting everything you have said well, to be honest again, I really don't have the time nor the patience.

My original comments were an observation based on what I saw. I hit a nerve somewhere and you flipped.

I actually sort of like the way you write, though you could widen your perspective a bit. Good on you though. Though you are still a boy it would seem. I guess your living your dream and thats the most important.

I think you have me confused with a shallow pseudo intellectual.

In time, maybe one day you will look back and reflect on your outburst here.

As far as offensive tactics Re: 'The Art of War'... LOL LOL LOL. Dude!!!!!!

My comments still stand. The only thing that changes is I know your at school so this is where I bid you every best wishes in your education.

My advice to you is be aware in a public forum, there is a difference between criticsm of ability and personal attacks. If you carefully read my comments you will find they were not directed at you as a person they were an observation of your talent.

Whereas I think you became emotionally clouded and you took them as being personal.

With all due respect,
Lighten up dude it will assist in your playing.

Matt, I just had a think about my reply and I was pretty insensitive.
I do give a rats about your title. Well not the title itself but the fact that you have applied yourself and spent many hours perfecting an exercise that most people can't even do. But you can do it the best in the the world. For this achievement and the fact your dedicated and motivated hats off to you. i hope that other drummers and other people who aspire to be someone can look up to you as a model.

All other comments stand.

For the record: I am record producer so if I want to be super critical I can be!

Well, for someone who didn't have time to respond, you just donated several long inches to two seperate comebacks.

I'll bet you don't want to reply to everything (issues you initiated BTW). Several hundred Well buts would get kind of old.

As far as hitting nerves you still don't get it do you?
It's not about your description of what went down, it's about you. Get a life dude. You're most likely pushing 40 years old and you give unsolicited critique (oops there I go again) and life direction counseling on a drum forum, that after examination is mostly nonsense, often made up on the fly, while having nothing to show of yourself except a lot of big talk and bad manners.

UPDATE...Now he claims to be closer to my age. Hmmm...The truth will be known very soon.

Record producer huh? I mean you do understand that we're kind of out of that business now ...right? But this could explain all the time you have on your hands to evaluate the psychological makeup of the parents of 5 year old drummers (Yeah lastditch I saw that). I guess you have a degree in human behavior too...huh? If so...physician heal thyself.

Of course with you, I'm not sure who you are. Up to now we've got an injured, ambiguously aged drumming record producer, with a degree in musicology. I'm sure Swiss chocolate maker is right around the corner.

BTW, you are the last person to be lecturing on demeanor. Even moderators go after you over here.

Honestly, this it. It's been fun guys. And I apologize to anyone who was put off by the exchange.
