You have one of those people here on this forum. It doesn't take a lot to discern who? They most often engage in the following behaviors.
1. Nitpick everything from stick sizes to ghost notes they will themselves to hear.
2. Become all knowing gear/tech gurus. It's a safe world because the cymbals don't talk back.
3. Engage in back in my day dialogue, which upon further investigation turns out to be someone else's back in the day.
4. Invokes the word musicality as a way of artificially implanting IQ points on a drum forum, when he/she rarely understands this word's meaning...or that most times they are actually describing the word musicianship.
Mainly, younger drummers who are sort of getting out there are exposed to far more information than older drummers ever were, and with respect to those who make these points, quite often these implanters of wisdom are unaware of this. With that said, young drummers are still VERY MUCH in search of and are appreciative of the wisdom that comes from our older musicians. The only difference between my generation and yours is that our BS meter is far more pronounced. Besides with forums being as they are (a vast playground for anonymous pretenders) this is a very necessary behavior for people like me. | So umm how old do you think I am? I haven't had a chance to read your pollution but it becomes clearer for me at this point. The fire thread of which is burning was the only place I had looked at but whoa. Hey bud now I know who you are my advice to you is get you fat head outta your #ss.If you wanna not be a one hot wonder pull your socks up! Your behaving like a spoiled little brat with a tude and I am very glad that I have made such an impact into your underage years. For the record I am only a few years older than you but I live in another country. |

Hmmm...you're not that much older than me huh?
Your profile claims 20 years of playing. You're not one of those guys who claims he started playing at 2 are you? That always comes off so phony.
You have a degree in musicology? This would make you 23 at least, still a ways from my age. But you certainly are aware of how you have been impersonating the old sage. Your multiple lives are starting to unwravel.
Which brings question to...
Record producer??? Dude I hope you're not counting your Protools.
givemethebeat=imposter
I knew this would all come to light.
Man, I'm sure you know the drill. When you talk major smack on a drum forum, you're obliged to submit video of your own playing. You didn't do that.
Criticisms are OK. But the hyper critical/music master claims are supposed to be backed up. Don't try to act like you don't know that. Besides, I am positive this isn't the first time your mouth has backed you into a corner.
OK this wraps up this thread. As said previously on another thread, I apologize for any discomfort caused other forum members. I don't think I need to go to the other thread now. My job here is done.
Skinslapper, after this guy is gone for good, I would be more than happy to discuss drumming with a lot of very nice guys.
Best to everyone.

My drumstick is better than yours?????? Maybe Commander Matt & Mr. G. should go outside & arm wrestle or something.
All this dumb*ss drama needs is a fair maiden to swoon for the winner.
To be serious--How about you guys put all this crap behind you & get back to
something constructive in your posts. If you hold this site in such "High Regard" as you claim sir-that should be the proper thing to do. Maybe it's time to act like we are older than 9. |

You simply peripherally scanned the texts, mocked standout catch phrases, inserted icons, and made knee jerk responses while you tried vainly to make sure you recieved the appropriate attention you thought was due you. At least givemethebeat was upfront about his intentions, questionable as they may have been.
Fanning the flames while feigning the embarrassed but wise voice of reason is also a tactic. Interestingly enough all I've been getting are a lot of thank you pms. So apparently there were people here who believed there was a problem. If you were so sincere you would have gone the pm route as well to voice your complaint or simply ignored the activities in their entirety. Fact of the matter is...you had a good time. But now the show's over.
Again Skinslapper and Drummermom. Sorry about the trouble.
Goodbye. |

| | | What does it take to stop you from being so much in love with yourself?? If I send you a quarter-will you go buy a brain?? Feed your self appraising prose to somebody who doesn't get it. If the only thing you can do on this site is try to justify your knee-jerk reaction, maybe you need to think about what you are doing to your own reputation. Perhaps if you stop trying to tell all of us how wonderful you are, you might be able to insert some helpful, constructive, positive counsel & advice to young & upcoming drummers that would like to look up & respect you. You are burning your own ship out from underneath yourself. Apparently you can't handle the small amount of publicity that has come your way. PLEASE--for all of the young people that would still like to respect you--
Either be positive or SHUT UP. |

| | Thanks Mouse--yes I feel better. That whole thing was just spiraling down into infinity.
Let's have positive input. To start with --I like your logo .
What kind of music are you currently playing?? Do you use double bass or double bass pedals?? How much do you get to use them during a typical gig??
Up here in Podunk, Idaho, I don't get to use them much at all. Currently I'm not getting to use anything except a little 4 pc. jazz set-up. Maybe I'm so old that people don't want to hire some old geezer. Some times I drive 250 miles to Boise - (the "Big City" in Idaho). When I sit in up there at the blues society jams, they all go nuts over what I play. Here in Podunk--nothin !!
Okay---Okay-- I'm done whining. Sniff--Sniff. Thank heavens for the little jazz gig. |

| | | Upstroke I know what you mean lately if it wasn't for playing in church, I wouldn't be playing much either. I didn't think I would miss the Army reserve band I retired from a few years back, but I do. I've kind of given up on the bar band thing also, can't stand dealing with drunks and stupid requests any more. |
