If you ever noticed drummers who mouth to songs especially in fills, this is an old and similar concept, Marco's working on slightly more difficult examples.
If you could hear what these drummers are mouthing , it is either gobbledegook or a catchy phrases that they have decided sounds like what they are playing.
Often i just hum it. It is helpful for remembering the introductions of songs and also any rhythm or groove.
It is a great way to help learn a fill or groove for any song by singing the part whether it makes sense or not, it can get you through a lot of things. It also can help you flow in a song where there is a groove and then that tricky fill comes along.
For eg a fill that goes parraddillde, flam, roll, flam triplet triplet triplet single stoke, if you had a phrase in the head something memorable like

1 2 dadaplop cheeeeeplop ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta ta plop ....whatever .....can lessen the need to learn every note or worry about it when it's coming in the song if its a tricky part. If you can sing it you can play it.
Often when in the Pipe band drum corp i would do this using the melody of the tune being played to fit the drumming rhythm in, everything fitted in nicely.
I learnt this from an old bagpiper who did the same thing in gaelic tongue to get through pibroch piper music, which is very tricky stuff.
Oldest drummer joke i know ... Is a the tune written as W, M, W, M. W, W, W.
bum titty bum titty bum bum bum.
