Well I agree with you in his drumming style and overrated all for show etc etc only an average drummer butttt.

Chances are, he can play drums "properly", using good techniques, even if its not mind-blowing rhythms hes playing.

When watching travis play, its interesting to watch because of the style he plays, he has a lot of stage presense and because of this has been able to turn his drumming into a high-pay career. I kinda respect him for that.

But yeah, when people saying "omggg i f**king loveeeeee travis hes amazing" it annoys me haha.

yea, i would like to see him actually play something and not be so showy..like to a modern drummer solo or something and show drummers what he hopefully can do.

He is just a "drummer"[let's say] who sells his tattoo's his dressing style!!For me he should not be called amazing drummer from them who call him as but just "DRUMMER"!!My thought!

As someone else mentioned, he is good at what he does...it's not incredible, but he definitely isn't "bad". He is definitely a showman more than anything...why does he wave his arms all over the place? Maybe he feels more comfortable that way? Highly unlikely. BUT, he can keep a solid beat...however, he plays in the framework and has been for the last 6-7 years now? whatever its worth, his drum playing on those videos is not impressive AT ALL, but it adds a lot to the tracks.

It's unfortunate that he is probably the only "famous" mass marketed drummer, with his TV show and what not...

I read in a drum magazine that he practically played all cymbals for a song, Thats cool.

I think he's a very talented drummer (obviously to get where he is today) but I also think he is a little overrated, and that most of his popularity was gained through very VERY successful marketing.

A lot of young people don't look past him to find some other great drummers with their own styles, who are arguably better than travis. I know I used to be like that, I'm 16 now.

i actually really like Travis Barker. Sure the way he plays might be for show and he makes a lot of money, but that doesn't make him shallow or over-rated. what i really like about his playing style is his creativity. he comes up with really interesting fills and cool beats. so i think instead of being the face of the steryotypical drummer, i believe he is quite the opposite. people think of drummers as "just hitting a few drums" as said before, but the beats and sounds he throws out revolutionize the idea of the drummer just being "the beat keeper". i think the drums he did for Blink-182 are far better than other bands in the same genre.
