Amen Der.
His spirit IS The Who to me.

I don't really have any over-rated drummers that i dislike. Obviously if we know their names they made it in the music business which is more than i can say about myself Keith Moon even though he is dead I really enjoy hearing this cat play. Mitch Mitchell is also one great drummer. I have so many i like i could go on and on.

I stand by my statement that Keith Moon is over rated he was a great fit for THE WHO no doubt but other then that I think is questionable if it wasn’t for his crazy antics, IMO he would be average at best.

People say he didn’t use a high –hat that is not a true statement he most definitely use one.

I know a solo doesn’t make a good drummer just thought I’d post this up

Over-rated meaning audience expectation exceeds ability, I'd say Joey Jordison and Lars Ulrich.

I love both of them, but ignorant metal heads tend to like labels like "the best drummer ever".

Re: who do u think is the most over rated drummer/drummers?

Moon was an innovator, really, of a different style of drumming. He didnt play for the song, he played the song. He and the bassist were the lead instruments in the Who, not the guitar. So, was he the perfect fit for the Who? Sure! Would he have fit in with ACDC? Probably not.
The thing is, Moon had crazy skills, great triplets, always seemed to end up on the 1...

Portnoy, is possibly the most technically accomplished drummer mentioned so far. His meter is spot on, and his independance is amazing. He is on a level with Gavin Harrison, who I personally think is the most accomplished drummer playing rock today.
Harrison, Portnoy, Danny Carey...these guys arent simply concerned with speed and blast beats. they are moving time, displacing beats, and doing things that many of us just dream about.

Of course, there are no BAD drummers! Karen Carpenter was really very good! Phil Rudd is perfection, and Travis is....well I dont know what the hell he is, but if hes keeping time, moving the song, and earning his keep, then hes good!

Thats just my opinion

Travis Barker definitely wins the battle of the most over-rated drummer. There is not one kid in my whole school that doesn't think he is the "best dummer out there." It's so annoying. Also Joey Jordison. Ahh. All these 'hardcore' and metal kids in my school dont appreciate drumming for what it really is. They just like to jump around and "mosh." Personal opinion/fact!

my personal opinion is lars ulrich (love metallica got all their albums went to see em twice but lars just aint that good)

& travis barker (dont give a feck blink are fecking terrible!!!!)

also joey jordison (the dudes good slipknot are good but theres nothing great bout them or him)

other people which i agree with said: tre cool were over rated
I think youre looking at it from an immature point of view. A drummers rating is not always (in fact its hardly EVER) about their raw ability.

ALL of those players you mention have influenced countless kids to pick up sticks and start playing. Regardless of their abilities, their power to influence is certainly worthy of praise. I myself was influenced by Lars when I started many moons ago.

Travis Barker's ability and rating are skewed in your eyes because you simply dont like the band. Neither do I, incidentally, but thats opinion and hardly an objective view.

Joey Jordison - Probably the most recognized metal drummer on the planet thanks to good marketing, decent ability and a good business machine driving the band. He's received enough popularity to have his own cymbal and stick lines, so Id say his rating is justified.

Personally for me, knowing how hard it is to even get a rating these days, I give full credit to these guys, who can work past their own challenges and flaws and still make people see their strengths. Lars is a great example.

Couldn't agree with you more damo. I'm also not a fan blink but Travis is a darn good punk drummer and even overrated drummers deserve their dues for inspiring the masses. I mean Virgil donati is a freak and all, but you're not going to find him on the iPods of most upstarts.

Well, yeah, Megs nothing special, but she serves her purpose in the Stripes, and anything more advanced would not work for what Jack is trying to do.
Although, your right, she really isnt too good
