Re: who do u think is the most over rated drummer/drummers? lol, I knew before even clicking this thread I'd see Lars and Travis.
Although, Lars has major cred for longevity and I dare say he's pioneered a thing or two. I think he's got good dynamics and maybe the beats are simple, but that's what give Metallica their unique place in the world. Sometimes holding back makes more of an impact. At least to me.
Travis...Well.... He reminds me of a 'rival' drummer I had in high school. could do some slick roll-downs but really wasn't very dynamic or imaginative. But some people thought he rocked because he could play 'fast'. Also, was really animated like Travis, looked like a chimp given a pair of sticks. I guess he's just in the moment but that play style really iritates me, kinda like when John Mayer orgasms all over the stage with his strat.
Oh well.
I  Gene Hoglan. From Death to SYL, to Dethklok, he never ceases to amaze and inspire me. |

Re: who do u think is the most over rated drummer/drummers? I think it's Ringo Starr. I LIKE the Beatles, but seriously, he was the worst drummer out of the whole Beatles! People say he's great, but he's really not very good. He just couldn't play anything else(like me ) |

Re: who do u think is the most over rated drummer/drummers? Yeah, Ringo just kept a good beat, helped the Beatles become one of the greatest bands of all time, inspired thousands upon thousands of young people to take up the drums, and ended up with a moonload of money -- yeah, he was nothin'. |

Re: who do u think is the most over rated drummer/drummers? There is sooo much more to drumming success and greatness than flash, blasts and speed.
Here is a small sample of the drummers that acknowledge that Ringo Starr was an influence to them:
Steve Gorman (Black Crowes)
Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater)
Phil Rudd (AC/DC)
Nicko McBrain (Iron Maiden)
Eric Carr (KISS)
Danny Carey (Tool)
Max Weinberg (E Street Band)
Dave Grohl (Nirvana/Foo Fighters)
Now I agree that technically he was not the greatest ever, but you can't argue the fact that his presence in music has greatly influenced today's drummers and their compositions. |

Re: who do u think is the most over rated drummer/drummers? I think the most over rated drummer is Travis Barker, he only plays fast.
I´ve seen many of you are saying Lars Ulrich, I like the way he plays but he is way over rated just for his double bass use and I don´t think what he plays is difficult, what do you think? |

Lars Barker Wins! |

Re: who do u think is the most over rated drummer/drummers? I dont know what he is doing these days, but I would have to say Tommy Lee.
Ok the guy could play upside down once in a while but that is about it.
He was so hyped as a kick butt drummer in the late 80s-early 2000.
I like Motley Crues music but Tommy really isnt that "special" IMO. |

What's funny is that J.J. stole his schtick and since most slipknot fans are under the age of 20, they don't remember that Tommy already spun around in a cage decades ago.... I think their level of talent is pretty similar too, now that I think of it.
