Re: who do u think is the most over rated drummer/drummers? Phil Collins.......I wouldn't pay the bloke in washers.
Okay, he is technically competent but he always sounds like he is bashing the kit with two bits of broom handle. No finesse. |

Re: who do u think is the most over rated drummer/drummers? Seriously?
Ive never liked his stuff personally, but Phil Collins is a great drummer, and is quite an accomplished jazz player too.
By memory, he's also Sabians highest level endorser. |

Re: who do u think is the most over rated drummer/drummers? Mind you, in defence of Ringo Starr, who posterity has decried as a drummer, I recently listened to some of The Beatles recordings.
His style is very old fashioned in that he plays a beat throughout a song in most cases without resorting to breaks and rolls to relieve the tension in his arms, this is old fashioned big band/trad jazz work.
For a great example of the genre try listening to The Beatles' "All My Loving"
Frankly I'm damned if I could maintain that beat without break for the entire song; the guy has the stamina of a water buffalo. |

Re: who do u think is the most over rated drummer/drummers? If i told you who i thought was over-rated it would cause a food fight the forum wouldnt be able to clean up in a week. Dont get me wrong they are very accomplished players but totally over-rated. My favorites are Ian Paice, Bonzo, Bobby Caldwell, Jerry Edmonton, and Don Brewer. |

Re: who do u think is the most over rated drummer/drummers? See, I personally Like Travis Barker, and Blink 182, Etc. - However I have to agree, that with the exception of a couple songs, most of the hype is just because he's fast and is all over the place. And I, even having blink 182 as one of my favorite bands, totally agree he's not that innovative.
Also, Totally don't think Lars has any kind of complicated stuff (that I've heard).
And, on the Ringo Starr note, I don't think he was a crazy innovative, but I do agree with whoever said he had the stamina of a beast.
Any thoughts on Tre' Cool From Green Day? - I think he's alright, but I think many give him more credit than he deserves, but what do I know? |

Re: who do u think is the most over rated drummer/drummers? I like Tre Cool. This is because his drumming has some pretty sweet stuff but he doesen't get carried away. And if you look at Peacemaker...well thats some pretty nice drumming in my opinion. Not to fancy but still skillfull. And MAn!! thats tiring too |

Re: who do u think is the most over rated drummer/drummers? Personally, I like Blink 182 and I think Travis is overrated.
I also am not very fond of Slipknot, but I believe that Joey can conjure up beats that go along well with the music style that he is playing. The beats always seem to fall in at the right spot and don't sound like a bunch of noise.
As for Lars, I would say the same thing, so no need to repeat myself here. I actually like Metallica though.
I believe there needs to be an "under-rated drummer" discussion, because there are many more underrated than overrated in my opinion(: just sayin. |
