Not only is Neil Peart a phenomenal drummer, he is also an accomplished writer. Read "Ghost Rider." It's better than "Traveling Music."

I agree with previous posts, and I see that there are some drummers and bands that I need to check out. I'd have to say that my favorite drummer is Larry Mullen, Jr. of U2. His simplicity and versitility is impressive, and he chooses the odd part of a kit, like playing 16ths on toms instead of the hats where such notes are usually played.

Carter Beauferd is amazing, I started using marching sticks because of him and I've never turned back. But beyond that, Dave Grohl and the drummer for Alkaline Trio.

Edit: the new drummer for Alkaline Trio, their first 2 were garbage.

Alkaline trio is one of my favorite groups. Derek Grant is an awesome drummer.

Didn't he play for a ska band before? I used to know the punk scene like the back of my hand, but then I turned 22, gotta real job and became the man.

He's played in ALOT of bands. The one I can think of off the top of my head is The Suicide machines, but there are many more.

There are so many great drummers out there. I wonder what it takes to make it on the list of drummerworld.com. Anyone know?

It takes:

1. Dedication
2. A mom who lets you live in her basement while you blast music all day long.

I could name of so many names for my favorite drummer, but I guess my top three (at least right now) would be thomas lang, simon phillips, and tony royster

#2 is a huge part of success. My neighbors would always talk to me about my playing drums because they could always hear it. And thankfully my family dealt with all the loud noise.
