Re: Cobus Potgieter

Bleed by Meshuggah, I don't think that'd suit him.
But yes your right, more metal stuff would be AWESOME!

Listen here friends; Somebody the other day on a double bass video on youtube said that Tomas Haake didn't play Bleed, that it infact was on a drum machine. that's incorrect, yes? Because why would he bother with a drum machine if he can and does play it live?

Re: Cobus Potgieter

i dont think that he did that on a drum machine because like you said he can and does play it live.......wouldn't that drum machine be a pain to set for that song? all the changes in the pattern and stuff.....i think maybe someone is mad because they cant play it and decided to start a rumor or something like that.......

on a side note........i have been working on that pattern........it's not that hard but when you bring it up to speed and put the other stuff over it it feels weird......i cant bring it up to speed.........anybody here that can play it???

Re: Cobus Potgieter

It doesn't make any sense for him to use a drum machine. I did hear, however, that Haake learned the whole song bar by bar and apparently it took him almost a year to perfect it... I don't think it really matters, either way he is a great drummer. Personally, I only listen to Meshuggah because of him. If not for the interesting drumming, I would get bored, their stuff gets pretty repetitive sometimes.

Cooldrummer, I considered learning Bleed, but I didn't actually ever start trying... Therefore, I cannot respond as one who has learned the song, but my advice is just to play it where it is comfortable, then bump it up 3-5 bpm. Once that becomes easy, bump it up more, until you are at the right speed.
Did you find notation? Tabs? or are you just learning by ear and Youtube vids?

Re: Cobus Potgieter

aah Cobus inspires me to play the drums, if i watch him play the drums ill just wanna go and play myself, but yeah some of the music i dont rlly like , but 'face down',' Breaking Benjamin and chumbawamba he does amazing jobs with but the best one i think is crazy is the ending of My life would suck without you, i dont love the song but its pretty awesome how he does that, and yes mayb he over does the stuff sometimes but i think thats what makes him such a 'popular' youtube drummer!
and it shows skill
