There is my apology, Xtreme.

Anyway, I do care about others. I care about others alot, in fact. However, if my feelings offend others due to their feelings, there is nothing I can do about it unless I keep my head down and be quiet, which is not something I do. I am very assertive. For this particular topic, I feel everybody should be able to understand my viewpoint and therefore, I see no reason to contain it. In a similar situation, I would not necessarily be voicing negative opinions about the deceased because I am considerate of such things.

I explained my opinion to the extent that anyone should be able to understand my thoughts. If it offends anybody that I don't feel sadness about the death of Paul's musical ability, then they are incredibly over-sensitive. This is especially true because in this case the idea at which I am directing negative opinions is not human, it is skill.

Again...I agree with Butter...but I also agree with DTX.

I think that it comes down to this: say what you mean the first time.

Done. EOD.

Now let's all get along ok?

Re: Mike Portnoy on Avenged Sevenfolds records

Butter,
The issue is not that you didn't feel sadness about Paul's death. The issue is that you declared that his death was no great loss. There's a big difference.
Feeling Paul's loss, two guys on the forum took issue with your remarks.
We disagree on this next part; I say they were two guys with normal sensitivity who were affected by the loss of a musician they valued very near the time of his death, and you say they were "incredibly oversensitive."
When you say Paul's death was no great loss, you are attacking his identity, his self, part of which was being a drummer. You still don't get that. I don't think you realize how such comments can affect people. And that's all I have to say, so I will now drop this thread.

I did not say the two people who took issue to my statement were over-sensitive, you misunderstood me.
Regardless, I am sorry that you are unable to understand what I am trying to say. I see no breakthrough so I will drop this as well.

He moves identically to his father, I guess it is true the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Re: Mike Portnoy on Avenged Sevenfolds records

Someday when I have a son, I want to be able to do stuff like that. I really wish my parents had started me on music earlier, something I'm sure Portnoy has done with his sons and I will surely do with mine (even if they aren't sons )
