Double Bass Pedal Problem

Hi, im sorry if I didn't put this in the right forum, I'm new. I'm having a problem with my double bass pedal. One of the beaters is not reaching the bass drum whereas the other one is, I don't know how I can make the beater go any farther. This may seem like a dumb question, but I'm kinda new to drums.

Re: Double Bass Pedal Problem

You are in the right part of the forum for your question. Btw, welcome to the forum, D00d. Unfortunately, my computer is too ghetto to look at the picture you posted, so I cannot help, but I would just try loosening things.

Good luck, sorry I can't be of more help.

Re: Double Bass Pedal Problem

You can try one of the following:

Adjust the distance between the beater and the drum.

Loosen spring tension

Angle of the pedals themselves can be a problem also. If you have your slave pedal too much at an angle, then it will be harder to move.

Clean out and lubricate the pedal.

Hopefully one of these solutions will solve your problem. Keep drumming!

Re: Double Bass Pedal Problem

You need to loosen the hoop clamp all the way and slide the pedal onto the hoop as far as it will go. That's how you get the beater closer to the drum, by moving the whole pedal closer to the drum. Also extend the beater to its full length and that should help.
Sometimes the hoop clamp doesn't fit very well onto the hoop. I've got old Pearl drums and the hoop has a groove in it, so I have to add some cardboard under the clamp so it will tighten properly. You may have to McGyver your pedal too.

Good luck!

Re: Double Bass Pedal Problem

Well the beginning of your video sucks as does the end, its far too dark to see anything you tried to record, but by the middle of the video, I would agree with what Slingerland59 has said. I actually had this problem last night with a single pedal. I loosened the hoop clamp and it was fine. If that doesn't work, I would shorten the chain on the slave pedal.

Re: Double Bass Pedal Problem

So are you saying he should adjust his cam? or just the spring attachment?
