Ever try triggers plus mics? I use both when playing live,you can create some awesome effects combining the two. It takes a good sound engineer with the knowledge to implement them effectively and is capable of offsetting the "effect to volume" ratio without creating a monster nightmare of noise. ddrum makes a premium trigger combined with an Alesis controller brain.
