ive been playin 2 years and thought about upgrading my kit but any thoughts on getting electronic one vs upgrading acoustic one

So go to Guitar center and try them both. They want to sell, so they shouldn't mind you trying out both types.

I'm very strongly against electric kits. I've played a few and found them difficult to play and very frustrating to get them t trigger the way I wanted them. On one I played the kick trigger at different levels even though I was playing it at a consistent volume. Another thing is I couldn't play the bell on the ride with the tip of the stick. That's my thought on electric drums but its best if you decide for yourself by trying some out. Also you could get a nice acoustic kit and nice cymbals for the same price as an ok electric set. Maybe you'll have better luck than I did.

Yamaha makes some great-sounding electronic kits in the upper ranges. Make sure you like how the cymbals sound, though. Acoustic cymbals may be louder, and there's something to be said for trying out a variety of acoustic cymbals and picking the sound you like.

If you plan to use the electronic set at gigs, make sure when you try the set out that you play it through an amplifier.

What's your price range?

Low end electronic sets (under $1000) are almost always terrible while acoustic sets in the same price range can sound pretty good as long as you put good heads on them.

If you've got the money though and were bent on going electronic, I would suggest either the high end Yamahas or Rolands - stay away from Simmons at all cost!

However, it's my belief that no electronic set out there is as dynamic, responsive, or realistic feeling as acoustics - so my vote will have to go for the real thing.
