I almost bought one of these kits. I had a hard time finding an all birch one (most are birch/basswood), but once I did find one and played it, I decided against it and ended up buying a maple kit.
Are you going to get a wrap or lacquer? I dunno if they still sell lacquer on MF, you might have to go through a store or something. I dunno.
I say go for it, but try it against some other kits. The
Mapex Meridian in the store next to the
Tama I tried was a winner for me, but it was still a tough decision. I went back to the store about 9 times
I wish I could just own both kits, but I'd probably buy a Meridian Birch before a
Tama superstar because the
Tamas are a bit less bright. Try out the Meridians if you can. Try out the
Ludwigs you mentioned. Try out the
Tamas. Make the BEST deciSIoN. Try out a Camaro. Or a Porsche. Just kidding. Good luck. Short sentences. I'm done.
