What am i missing here?

ok guys i just found a premier drum set on craigslist for what seems to me, like a good price. im trying to get some other opinions on it. heres what it is

5 piece Premier Special Edition Drum Kit.

All matching, great condition. 22 in bass, 16 in floor tom, 13 & 12 in toms, 14 in snare, high-end remo heads with tone rings. Kit includes zildian zbt 14 in hi-hats, zbt 14 in & 16 in crash cymbals, and an 18 in paste pst 3 ride. All heavy duty stands. Real nice sound, great price - truly a steal! $395.00 firm.

heres the link

it looks in good condition in the pictures. im wondering if any of the shells are cracked. do you think its worth a look? i thought premier is like a really good European brand of drums. so at a price like this it should be a steal

Re: What am i missing here?

Who knows what the story is here - this could have been a kit bought for a kid or an adult that never showed any interest or did not have an aptitude for the drums.

Call them and feel them out. As a side note I found a set of DW Pacific CX's at a pawn shop for $175.00, and now it's one of my practice/lesson kits. The snare alone was worth @$150.00. So there can be some good deals out there...

There are a lot a things that goes into making a drumset vintage. Check at the following link - http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/ - once you have the information off the kit. Some sets can be worth more vintage than when they were new. Get them to send you a picture of the Badge and compare it to this list - http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/premier_badges.html

One series of equipment that epitomizes this is the Sears Silvertone line of equipment, cheap when it was new but commands a high dollar in certain music circles now.

Premier was a popular brand in the 60's especially with British drummers, like Keith Moon.

Follow Up: It appears to be a @1985 set, but is hard to say without more information - see: http://www.oaklandbeachdrums.com/vintagedrumsets.htm (1985 Premier Special Edition 5 pcs, about 3/4 down the page). The finish and drum sizes seem similar.

Drumtech hit right on the nose. The badge and serial numbers would be very helpful.

The ZBT's have a flat sound. If the drums are on the level, then the drums alone are more than worth it. Then again do they match your genre of music.
